Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8)	To use as a reference image on the Wikipedia biographic article I've created on the early 20c Japanese artist, Masamu Yanase. I believe this is Acceptable Use of the image, for educational purposes in the encyclopedia.
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1)	I searched and could not find an alternative free illustration depicting the artist.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3)	For use as a reference file in a wikipedia bio article
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2)	I am confident it will not harm any commercial opportunities of the artist, since the original painting is held in the permanent collection of a university art museum in Japan. It is a low resolution reference file.
Other information	The photo is only being used for informational purposes. Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because the person depicted is the object of discussion in the article.
