English: The legs of Nestor Makhno's journey are numbered for accessibility. In order:
  1. April 1918: Huliaipole -> Taganrog
  2. May 1918 (early): Taganrog -> Rostov -> Tsaritsyn -> Astrakhan
  3. May 1918 (late): Astrakhan -> Saratov -> Tambov -> Moscow
  4. July 1918: Moscow -> Kursk -> Belgorod -> Katerynoslav -> Huliaipole

The borders loosely represented in this map correspond to the Ukrainian State, the Russian Soviet Republic, the Crimean Regional Government, the Kuban People's Republic and the Kingdom of Romania, as they were in 1918.
