"Clann Gregour, clyppit alswa ye clann Alpynn: he hath thre wyd stryppis of greine vpon ane scarlatt fyeld, and vpon ye myd stryppe ain spraing of quhite, bot yr be svm quhilk vse not ye qugite spraing, as mak Gregor of glen stryp mydward on ye redd sett and na qugite, and svm I haue sene quha say how ye qhuite wes in ye scarlatt sett of avld, and zeit ys wtin ye pairtes of Balquhidder." ~~ Vestiarium Scoticum page.78, plate.6.
