Summary

Description
English: Miniature of an enthroned king, from a 14th-century manuscript of the Arthurian romance "Meliadus or Guiron le Courtois" (part of the romance also known as "Palamedes"). The first part of the romance of Guiron le Courtois begins on fol. 3r, and breaks off in mid-sentence on fol. 352v.

The miniatures, by several Neapolitan artists with French influence, were produced for Louis I of Naples. This miniature is taken as showing his portrait, enthroned, with the "knot" emblem of his chivalric "Order of the Knot" (founded 1352).
