Summary

Description
English: Kilcommon: The Swiss Cottage The Swiss Cottage was built around 1810 for Richard Butler, 1st Earl of Glengall, to a design by the famous Regency architect John Nash, and is a fine example of "cottage ornée", or ornamental cottage. It is situated on the northern end of a prominent hill in the valley of the River Suir, about a kilometre and a half south of Cahir. After a period of neglect renovation works started in 1985 and it was opened to the public in 1989.
