Summary

Description
English: Murchison Widefield Array images of the background solar emission at 240 MHz (grayscale) with color contours showing the locations of Type III solar radio bursts at a range of frequencies. The peak burst intensities are hundreds of times greater than the background, and the lower-frequency contours appear at larger distances from the surface (indicated by the solid circle) because the bursts are produced by a beam of electrons that travels away from the Sun, exciting radio emission of lower and lower frequencies as it gets farther away.
