Summary[edit]

Circa 1870s Nantucket street scene by C. H. Shute & Son of Edgartown, MA. Charles H. Shute (1818-1877) was a Nantucket native who operated a photography studio with his son on neighboring Martha's Vineyard from approximately 1858-1877. Public domain. To whom it may concern: This image has been flipped horizontally. It depicts the intersection of York and Orange Streets, looking up Orange Street toward Main Street. I ask that someone flip the image so that it is correct.
