Description
Français : 12x17 cm, gélatine plan-film. Découverts en 1936 par un fouilleur clandestin, dans un tombeau de la nécropole d'Emèse (aujourd'hui Tell Abou Saboun, à Homs), cet ornement de sarcophage et cinq autres, similaires, sont depuis conservés au musée national de Damas (inv.6913, 7086, 7207, 7208, 8351, 8352). Il s'agit de feuilles d'or rondes, de 135 mm de diamètre, avec des traces de clous au pourtour. Un masque de Méduse est représenté au centre et entouré d'une couronne de laurier entre deux cordelettes.
