| Description |
English: The picture depicts a Christmas-star, the main part of an old Hungarian Christmas-tradition called csillagozás (star-play). Unlike other usual Christmas traditions the csillagozás is a play that isn't performed in a group. Usually it is performed by a child who is younger than 10 years. The play itself is a string of Christmas carols that tells the story of Jesus' birth. In the end of the performance the child asks the Lord's blessings for the house and ones who're living in it and wishes them merry Christmas. In return the child usually gets some sweet or money.
The star itself is just partly made by the child who will use it later since it's not that easy to make one. The star has got a wooden frame that has two different parts: the first part is the handle and the second one is the star itself that can be turned around on the handle. This frame is covered by colourful paper and ribbons. This piece of Christmas star is exhibited in the local historical museum of Hajdúdorog, Hungary. Magyar: A képen egy régi magyar, karácsonyi szokás, a csillagozás legfőbb eleme látható. A többi karácsonyi népszokástól eltérően a csillagozást nem csoportban adják elő. Általában egyetlen tíz évnél fiatalabb gyermek adja elő a csillagozást. Ez tulajdonképpen nem más, mint karácsonyi énekek füzére, amely elmeséli Jézus születésének történetét. A csillagozás végén a gyermek az Úr áldását kéri a házra és annak népére és boldog karácsonyt kíván nekik. Cserébe a hallgatóság édességet vagy pénzt ad neki. A csillag maga túl bonyolult ahhoz, hogy a gyermek egymaga el tudja készíteni. A csillag általában egy fa szerkezetre épül, amelynek két része van: az egyik a csillag nyele, míg a másik maga a csillag teste, amelyet forgatni lehet. Ezt a keretet aztán a gyerekek díszítik fel színes papírral és szalagokkal. |
