English: This photo was taken by an unknown photographer while Chicago, Burlington and Quincy steam locomotive No. 4960 sat beneath a tarp, slightly disassembled, at Casad Industrial Park in New Haven, Indiana.
At the time, No. 4960 was owned by the Mid-Continent Railway Museum of North Freedom, Wisconsin, and following the locomotive's lease to the Bristol and North Western Railroad in Virginia, the museum was looking for someone who would be willing to lease or buy it. In September 1989, No. 4960 would be sold to the newly-formed Grand Canyon Railway of Williams, Arizona. Following a subsequent meticulous rebuild, No. 4960 began operating for the Railway in 1996, and the rest is history. |
