Description
English: Photograph of a wall (pinax, plural pinakes) of scattered antiquities on the Acropolis of Athens, assembled by the Greek Ephor General Kyriakos Pittakis sometime between 1847 and 1853 from various scattered antiquities in a bid to discourage looting. The pinakes were widely criticised, and were demolished in the 1880s.
