Summary

Description
English: en:Bath Street Mills. The earliest part of Bath Street mills was built c.1848 as a silk spinning and weaving mill by Derby industrialist George Holme. In 1857 they were described as Patent Elastic Fabric Manufacturers, making silk elastic webs and gussets. The mill was extended to the south in 1868-9, from designs by architect Samuel Morley and single storey weaving sheds were added over the yard areas to the rear to provide space for the manufacture of woollen goods. In 1892 200-300 people were employed here. George Holme & Co. earned numerous International awards and prize medals for its products in the 1860s, 1870s and 1880s. They went out of business in the 1920s. The mill is now empty and faces an uncertain future.
