Description
English: Baathist Iraq's hegemonic ambitions between 1963 and 2003:

white area = Arab fatherland (watan) in the baathist view
black area = Iraq
dark-green area = Union projects with Egypt (1963, 1969, 1972) and Syria (1963, 1969, 1972, 1979)
light-green area = Arab Cooperation Council (Iraq, Egypt, Jordan and Yemen)
red area = territorial claims (Shatt al-Arab/Khuzestan 1980-82 and 1988, Kuwait 1990-91 occupied
) green star = ideological expansion (regional Baath parties outside Syria and Iraq)
red star = economic cooperation (Arab Common Market 1964-1979, Arab Cooperation Council 1989-1990)

black star = military intervention (sending troops or advisers, instructors and weapons)
