TIMURID IRAN, DATED FRIDAY 12 RABI' II AH 848/29 JULY 1444 AD

A dictionary of medical terms composed for the Muzaffarid ruler Shah Shuja', Persian manuscript on paper, 226ff. plus two fly-leaves, each folio with 21ll. of black naskh script, important words picked out in red, some marginal notes, with catchwords, opening folio with blue, gold and red illuminated headpiece with title in black-outlined gold thuluth script and text within black-ruled gold frame, some marginal repairs, colophon stating that this is volume I and dated, various later added notes and seal impressions, in late 18th or 19th century stamped brown morocco binding Folio 10 x 6½in. (25.2 x 16.5cm.)

Various seal impressions can be found on the reverse of the opening folio which seem to date from the 16th to the 19th century. An impression in the shape of a tughra with the name "al-'Abd Hasan al-Husayni is used throughout the manuscript.
