Summary

Description

microMathematics Plus (μMath+) 2.15.6 on Android 2.3.6 showing the calculation for a popular Wi-Fi password challenge requiring the first eight or ten numbers of the result, which has turned out to be the Pi number (π).

microMathematics Plus, also known as μMath+, is a scientific graphing calculator and function plotter for Android, and is based on the worksheet paradigm.

Notes:

  • Notation in the equation is more specific, as it includes otherwise-implied multiplication signs and parentheses that are not in the original challenge.
  • The x/2 common fraction in cos(x/2) had to be oblique (x/2) and not tall, because in this version of Android (per app error message), deeper levels of parentheses were not supported. The solution in that level was to use a one-line oblique common fraction.
  • For the required result length, up to 10 or 11 numbers after the decimal point were set in app settings to be displayed for the result. (It's possible to set a greater amount of numbers after a decimal point.)
  • Finger pinch movements were used to zoom out in order to show the entirety of the equation and its result.

μMath+ is available at the F-Droid store of free and open-source Android apps, and on Google Play for a small charge (to support the developer).[1]

Google Play also hosts the lighter MicroMathematics package with green branding and less functions, which can still be adequate for most things. The Plus version with blue app livery contains access to more functions.
