Summary

Description
English: This photograph by mwdonnellan shows a 130 volt varistor that has undergone catastophic failure as a result of a lightning strike. This varistor was a component of a consumer-grade surge protector. Note the evidence of heat and smoke. The component immediately in front of the varistor was a 3 amp fast-blow fuse, that blew during the same event. Photograph at original scale.
