English: Royal bookplate for King Edward VII by G W Eve.

Signed with monogram G W E(ve) ay lower right end.

Listed in Brian North Lee's "British Royal Bookplates" -see page 68 (plate 52).

"The serie of three bookplates by George W Eve for the Royal Library at Windsor had been etched for Queen Victoria as late as 1897-98. Perhaps partly on this account, but also because they pleased him, King Edward VII had them amended by the artist for continued use throughout his reign."

This was for Octavo volumes.

Provenance: From the collection of Sir Charles Travis Clay (1885-1978), Librarian of the House of Lords from 1922-1956.
