Description
-*- Although there is some wear and retouching in certain areas, there can be no doubt that this is a major portrait by ter Borch painted shortly after 1656. Gudlaugsson records a studio copy (canvas, 77x85) which was in the collection of Nico H. van Heek in Enschede in 1956 (Gudlaugsson, I, 1959, s. 279, no.120 with ill.; ibidem, II, 1960, pp. 132-133, no. 120).
