DescriptionGrand Union Canal, Aylesbury Arm, California Brook weir - geograph.org.uk - 903520.jpg
English: Grand Union Canal: Aylesbury Arm: California Brook weir This is the end of the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal at its Walton Street Basin. Because the basin is at the bottom of the lock system it receives water every time the next lock upstream is used. All the excess water flows out over this weir thus maintaining a consistent water level in the basin. The excess water runs into a short tributary of Bear Brook called California Brook, which eventually joins Bear Brook to the west of Aylesbury Station.
