Summary
[edit]'bout de la bievre 18.'; Comité des Étudiants Américains de l'École des Beaux-Arts Paris post card, numbered 37(5?)64, by (Paul?) René Vogelweith?; WWI postcard art. An Impressionist (Post-Impressionist,...?) landscape of the Bièvre river with trees, etc.; the colours appear to be somewhat autumnal. 1918? Miniature painting, oils(?); painted on a standard, printed Comité post-card blank with the variant wording 'The Comité des Étudiants Américains de l'École des Beaux-Arts Paris guarantee the authenticity of this picture'. Created by 'R.Vogelmeith'(?); signed on front. Full front caption reads as follows: 'bout de la bievre 18. R.Vogelweith' Written in pencil, in cursive; the exact lettering is not entirely certain, but this appears to be the correct reading. Back with only the handwritten number '37(5?)64' (the 5 is a bit uncertain) added, at bottom centre, to the standard printed design & text. Possibly the number '18' refers to the year 1918? More information about the artist would be appreciated. Wittig collection, item 41; private collection, fam. Wittig et cie.
Created during WWI, therefore obviously pre-1923; uploaded here to avoid Commons' "dual jurisdiction" PD rule.
