The Embassy of Japan, Malé (Dhivehi: ދިވެހިރާއްޖެގައި ޖަޕާނުގެ އެމްބަސީ[1]) is an Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Maldives.
History
[edit]- On 26 July 1965, the Maldives gained independence from the United Kingdom.[2]
- On 23 October 1967, the Embassy of Japan in Colombo, Ceylon (now the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka) begins serving as the Embassy of Japan in the Maldives with Seizo Hinata as the resident ambassador in Ceylon.[3]
- On 14 November 1967, diplomatic relations between Maldives and Japan were established.[2][4]
- On 1 January 2016, Embassy of Japan in Maldives was opened.[5]
- In July 2016, the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Kazumi Endo was appointed.[6]
