Should I help?[edit]

This page has been brought to my attention. I see what the editors are talking about; it's not very well written, and far too opinionated in its comments.

I think I could help clean it up; I'm an experienced writer and intimately familiar with the subject. But therein lies the problem — as the principal developer of MiniScript, I can't be considered an unbiased source. If I clearly declare my COI, can I help? Or should I not touch this page with a 10-foot pole? JoeStrout (talk) 16:19, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Having a COI doesn't meant that you can't write about a subject, it just means you have to work twice as hard to make sure everything you write is neutrally worded (usually because of unconscious biases). If you think you can manage that, then by all means please help out! If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 16:45, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And yes, if you have a COI and want to edit the article, you should definitely disclose! See WP:PSCOI for more. Primefac (talk) 17:16, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comments on "Design Philosophy" section[edit]

Discussion of the Design Philosophy section of the MiniScript page Wiked120521 (talk) 15:16, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- "Orthogonal syntax" is not very clear by itself -- it needs more explanation, or perhaps a link to Orthogonality (programming).
- The end paragraph about "common irritants and obstacles" seems opinionated. One programmer's irritant may be another's favorite feature. Perhaps this can be reworded in a more neutral manner? Wiked120521 (talk) 15:18, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

References sorely needed[edit]

Discussion of where to find references for this article, which areas need more references, etc. Wiked120521 (talk) 15:31, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Some of them should be easy, like where it mentions a "one-page reference" — surely we can link to that? Wiked120521 (talk) 15:31, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
