Draft talk:Glossary of social choice
Appearance
Glossary for electoral systems, voting, social choice, etc.
[edit]@Rankedchoicevoter I think we should create a glossary page, so we can give brief descriptions of terms without having to create stubs every time. For example, we can have "single-member plurality" redirect to a glossary entry defining it as "a system for legislative elections combining single-member districts with first-preference plurality" and giving a few sentences describing it. This saves us from having to create a whole page that's mostly redundant with the SMD+FPP articles. – Closed Limelike Curves (talk) 00:19, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, I get the example, and maybe see how that is something that might come up with the mixed systems I'm editing at the moment, but I don't know how exactly it should look.
- Anyway to start collecting such terms is definitely a good idea, but does the glossary only have ones that don't have their own article? or both? Rankedchoicevoter (talk) 06:26, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- You can check out other Glossary pages, e.g. Glossary of chess, for more examples. I don't have any objections to including terms that already have their own articles, but the goal is more to have a reference we can point people at if we need to (i.e. add terms as needed) rather than building a comprehensive catalogue. – Closed Limelike Curves (talk) 17:54, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- I started some.
- Do you know if there is a way to easily make this structured so we can refer between them? Especially for ones without own articles, but the definition is elsewhere on the page Rankedchoicevoter (talk) 14:30, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
