The Backrooms is an upcoming American science fiction psychological horror film directed by Kane Parsons with Roberto Patino set to pen the screenplay. It is based upon the urban legend/creepypasta of the same name that was made into a YouTube series Backrooms, starting with the video "The Backrooms (Found Footage)", created by Parsons.
The Backrooms is scheduled to be released in the United States, by A24.
Background[edit]
On January 7, 2022, Kane Parsons began uploading a video series, titled Backrooms, starting with "The Backrooms (Found Footage)" onto his YouTube channel Kane Pixels; the concept being based on the internet urban legend/creepypasta, the Backrooms.[1] After publishing The Backrooms (Found Footage), Parsons was approached by several studios for a feature-length adaptation. He initially pitched the idea as a comic serialization as opposed to a feature length film. A24, who successfully bid on the film, announced that a film adaptation was in works in February 2023, with Parsons directing.[2] The film will be a joint production between A24, Chernin Entertainment, Atomic Monster and 21 Laps Entertainment, with Roberto Patino writing the script.[3]
Release[edit]
