Sky Chi Y. Yang (born 1999) is a British actor and filmmaker. He was named a 2023 Screen International Star of Tomorrow.[1]

Early life and education[edit]

Yang was born in the South London Borough of Lambeth. He attended Alleyn's School as a member of Roper's.[2] He discovered acting through a school production of Peter Pan and subsequently enrolled in Saturday classes at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, through which he signed with an agent. He later graduated in 2020 from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) with a Bachelor of Arts in Acting.[3]

Career[edit]

After signing with an agent, Yang began his career in the ensemble of Madame Butterfly at the Royal Albert Hall. At the age of 17, Yang made his feature film debut with a small role in the Tomb Raider adaptation. Yang created the short film Sunny with his school friend Ben Bainbridge, based on a poem Yang wrote titled Made In Anger and named after Sun Yat-sen.[4]

In 2022, Yang made his television debut with a main role as Stephen Chen in the ITV crime series Holding. This was followed by his feature film debut in Rebel Moon on Netflix.

Yang is set to star as the titular character of Justin Lin's film The Last Days of John Allen Chau.[5] He also has upcoming roles in the films Whistle[6] and Anniversary.
