Shri Thyagaraja Aradhana Manchester was a music festival that took place in Manchester on 13 February 2024 in honor of the Carnatic music composer Tyagaraja Aradhana.
This Carnatic musical program is the special program for all Carnatic musicians specifically and for Indian classical musicians in general. Performing at the Thyagaraja Aradhana is considered special and this program is conducted across many cities in the world. Other celebrations include Cleveland_Thyagaraja_Festival and Hyderabad Tyagaraja Aradhana Music Festival take place at Thiruvanmiyur, Tamilnadu, India The festival is celebrated on the Pushya Bahula Panchami day, which was the day when the Saint Thyagaraja attained Jeeva Samadhi. This day is marked as a major musical anniversary by Carnatic musicians.
In February 2024, about 500 people gathered to participate, perform and enjoy renditions of Shri Thyagaraja Kritis, performed by vocalists, Instrumentalists rendering the Kritis and dancers performing to various kritis. The day began with a prayer to the Saint and involved about 100 artists from all over UK and from all age groups. The celebration saw musicians bring unique musical instruments which mesmerised the audience.
The first year celebration also establishes a tradition of celebrating this festival every year hereinafter. The next year celebrations are awaited in February 2025.
