[1]Shaquillo Fritz (29 years) is a Bahamian professional basketball player who is well known for his exceptional defence skills and relentless work ethic. Standing at six foot eight with a wingspan of more than seven feet two inches , Fritz’s blend of size, speed, and defensive prowess makes him a formidable presence on the court.

Early years Born and raised in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, Fritz soon showed promise in athletics and sports. He excelled in track and field and demonstrated his athleticism in events like the 200m and 400m. However, Fritz’s passion for basketball was only ignited when he first saw the music hit “Basketball” by Rapper “Bow Wow”. Fritz asked his dad to build a hoop for him and friends to play with. Whilst it was a simple construction of a cement block, pole, piece of wood, and rim, this was the first hoop that led Fritz to build up his promise of a professional career. Fritz faced initial challenges and ridicule on the local tournament courts and was even cut from his school team. To take this further, Fritz announced to his classmates at 15 years old that he aspired to be a professional basketball player, only to be laughed at by his students and teacher. Fritz saw this as a pivotal moment, which drove him towards his goal even further. High School and Junior College Armed with a scholarship to help him, Fritz moved to the United States, where he attended various schools. He first participated in a prep school in Arizona, where Fritz led a basketball team to the championship. However, after a coach prompted him to strive towards more ambitious settings, Fritz transferred to the more prestigious IMG Academy in Florida. Despite obstacles in dealing with NCAA paperwork issues and struggling to adapt to new environments, the young Fritz continued to hone his skills and excel on the court. While at Miami Dade College, Fritz faced challenges he had not anticipated—being held back by his coaches who did not support his goals and aspirations. Fortunately, Fritz found his footing at Paris Junior College, where he thrived both academically and athletically. His exquisite performances with Paris caught the attention of Division 1 programs, leading this player to spells at Arkansas State University and Pacific University.

Division 1 During his senior year at Pacific University, Fritz worked harder than ever on the court, which earned him recognition as one of the most promising players in college basketball. As his technique included blocking with his non-dominant left hand, Fritz rarely encountered trouble fouls, whilst his impressive work ethic was something others were mistaken to underestimate.
