Ruslan Synytskyy (born 19 Aug 1978) is a Ukrainian IT entrepreneur, notable as a co-founder and former CEO of Jelastic PaaS. He made significant contributions to the development of the Pay-as-you-use pricing model for cloud-based applications[1][2], the enhancement of the Java G1 garbage collector (based on implementing returning of the unused JAVA heap memory to the OS)[3], and to the innovative mechanism of the cloud-based application packaging.[4]
In 2011, Synytskyy became the founder CEO of Jelastic public cloud company, initially targeted at Java hosting only. Under his leadership, Jelastic evolved from startup into a global provider of private, hybrid, and multi-cloud services, gradually embracing support for PHP, Ruby, Python, Node.js, .NET, GoLang, and Docker container hosting.[5]
During his tenure as CEO at Jelastic PaaS, Synytskyy has collaborated with influential figures in the technology industry, such as Mark Zbikowski, a principal architect at Microsoft,[6] James Gosling, the creator of Java,[7] and Rasmus Lerdorf, the father of PHP.[8]
In recognition of his accomplishments and contributions to the Java community, Ruslan Synytskyy personally holds the title of Java Champion[9] and, as Jelastic founder CEO, is a two-time winner of the Duke’s Choice Awards (received in 2012[10] and 2018[11]).
