Capital (Bangla:ক্যাপিটাল), commonly known as Kapital, is a mountain situated in the Politai range, near Thaikeng Para, Ruma, Bandarban. It is over 943 m (3,094 ft) in height, and is the tenth highest mountain in Bangladesh. The mountain is notable for it's natural environment and forestry surroundings. The trail leading to this mountain starts from Ruma Bazar and passes through Keokradong.[2][3]

History[edit]

The peak of the mountain was once used as a place of hideout by separatist group from Mizoram. The mountain is named Capital because of their declaration of the peak as the temporary capital of free and independent Mizoram. The locals still call the mountain as Kapital.[4][5][6]
