Leevale Athletic Club[edit]

History[edit]

Leevale was founded in 1967, as a result of the amalgamation of the Hilltown and Fr. Matthews athletic clubs.

The founding members of the club are Donie Walsh and Tony Shine.

Up until 2024 Leevale had the largest membership (Approx. 400 members) of an Athletic club in Cork, recently overtaken by Bandon Athletic Club.

Leevale currently runs athletic coaching groups from under 9's through to Masters athletes, competing throughout indoor and outdoor season alongside the cross country season.

Leevale Built their High Performance Center (HPC^[1]) in 2017 and remains their focal point for training.
