Lake Belton High School is a public high school that serves the city of Belton and Temple, Texas. Lake Belton High School is located in Temple, Texas in north-west Bell County under the postal code 76502. It is a part of the Belton Independent School District. The school is known to host many students of parents or family members who are active duty or have been discharged from the US Army based at the nearby Fort Cavazos United States Army Post located about 27 miles away in Killeen, Texas. The school serves grades 9-12. The school is classified as a 5A public school. As of 2024, the National Center for Education Statistics, Texas Department of Education calculates a total of 1,593 students enrolled at the school. The school was opened in September 2020. The school is known for its extremely competitive and successful sports and athletics programs. On August 22nd, 2023, a grass fire swept through the area near Lake Belton High School and High Point Elementary School in Temple, Texas. Approximately 55 students awaiting parent pickup after dismissal from High Point Elementary School outside of the building were evacuated into Lake Belton High School. No one was injured and the fire was subsequentially quickly extinguished. Micah Hudson, A notable alumnus of the school and former wide receiver for the school's varsity football team, is now a 5-star wide receiver for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. [1] [2] [3] [4]
