Jose Miguel Berlanga has been the founder and investor of numerous companies across diverse sectors like import/export, valves and piping, oil & gas, manufacturing, telecommunications, and more. He is particularly renowned for his contributions in Houston land development and residential construction over the past 25 years.[1][2]

Early life and education[edit]

Berlanga was born in Veracruz, Mexico, but moved to Mexico City at a young age. His educational journey took him to the United States, starting high school at Texas Military Institute in San Antonio, finishing at Eagle Pass High School, and culminating in a business-focused education at University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas, where he also began his entrepreneurial endeavors.[3]

Career[edit]

Berlanga began his professional journey post-high school with modest savings, initially entering the oil and gas sector in Houston. His business faced a significant setback during an economic crisis in 1991. Undeterred, Berlanga ventured into the restaurant, coffee houses and service industry, later facing new market challenges. He co-founded Tricon Homes in 1997, a venture that grew rapidly until the 2008 financial crisis. Nevertheless, he averted bankruptcy and eventually rebounded. Berlanga is currently working as a land developer and real estate investor.[2][4]
