Gavin Carfoot is an Australian songwriter, producer and music academic. He is known for his work with country music artists James Johnston, Kaylee Bell, Melanie Dyer, Max Jackson, Adam Brand, Matt Cornell, Tori Darke, Loren Ryan, and Chloe Styler.

Biography

Gavin Carfoot was born in Brisbane, Australia. He was awarded a PhD in music from Griffith University, and a Masters of Music degree from the University of Queensland. He was a Lecturer in Popular Music at Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium from 2003-2013, and is currently a Senior Lecturer in Music at Queensland University of Technology.

Career

In 2024 Gavin was nominated in the categories Contemporary Country Album of the Year and Album of the Year at the 52nd Golden Guitar Awards.[1].

In 2024 the song Same Songs (written by James Johnston, Kaylee Bell, Gavin Carfoot, Nolan Wynne and Jared Porter) was nominated for Most Performed Country Work in the APRA Music Awards [2]
