Dean J. Mazzarella (born August 19, 1957) is the Mayor of Leominster Massachusetts and the longest currently serving mayor in Massachusetts. In 2023, he was sworn into his 16th term and 31st year in office.[1]

Personal Life[edit]
Mazzarella is a lifelong Leominster resident and father of two. He has a daughter, Stephanie and a son, Dean.
Son of the late Joseph Mazzarella and Ida (Lanza), Mayor Mazzarella was born and raised in the City of Leominster alongside his two brothers Marco and Frank.[2]
Career[edit]
Mazzarella began his career in law enforcement as a member of the Leominster Police Department, where he served for ten years.
He was elected as mayor in 1993 and sworn into office on January 3rd, 1994.[2]
As mayor of the “Pioneer Plastics City,” Mazzarella founded Pink Flamingo Day in 2007 in honor of the pink flamingo lawn ornament, which originated in Leominster. This is celebrated annually on June 23rd.[3]
In 2017, he was challenged by a write-in candidate and won the reelection by a narrow 106 votes.[4]
In 2021, Mazzarella was named to Worcester Business Journal Power 50 List.[5]
