Early Life
[edit]Keith Andres McQueen was born in Columbia, South Carolina to teenage parents. He shares that his father was a known drug dealer from Greenville, South Carolina. McQueen was raised by his maternal grandparents in the Pentecostal church. At the age of 19, McQueen came out as gay and became estranged from his family for years.
In 2012 McQueen launched Powerhouse Global, a 6 member LGBTQ Affirming congregation in Indiana that grew to thousands of members and multiple campuses around the world.
Queer Theology
[edit]In 2024 McQueen came under attack from renowned Bible teacher Gino Jennings for his theological belief that God loves and accepts all people. McQueen’s radical teaching on love and inclusivity has been widely rejected by many in the Christian faith.
A sermon preached by McQueen in 2021 featured him on stage at his Chicago campus teaching that biblical characters Ruth and Naomi were lesbian lovers. The teaching caused outrage in the Christian community.
