First off, would anyone be willing to have a discussion to rename this article for a broader category of "recorded deaths" to include people whose deaths photographed or recorded in some digital format (e.g mobile phone video)?
I created this category. I tried to choose a brief name, and then expand on the inclusion criteria in the text at the top of the category. Note that someone has already added "...recorded or broadcast", and events like the Stoning of Du'a Khalil Aswad (a mobile phone recorded death) is already properly included. The inspiration for this category was my macabre interest in grouping people linked to a shocking event. Some of the first people I added to this category were John F. Kennedy, Lee Harvey Oswald, Steve Irwin, and Lisa Lopes. Actually, it was soon after viewing Lopes's footage on TV that I got the idea. So the idea was things that make you say "Whoa, I can't believe I just saw that." I don't know if a still photo has quite the same shock value. Perhaps a subcategory wouldn't "dilute" my intentions. Ultimately, do whatever you think is best, I'm not trying to claim ownership.
