Drummers

[edit]

Is the cat for people who play Afro-Cuban music on the drum set, like Bobby Sanabria (as opposed to "percussion" instruments like bongos, congas, timbales, guiro, etc.)? If so, it should be stated at the top of the cat. Badagnani 19:52, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, Bobby needs an article, if you'd like to make one. :) Badagnani 19:53, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'll eventually get there. I am using Scott Yanow's book Afro-Cuban Jazz borrowed from my library as a reference. I am just starting small stubs and categorizing today, and I'm only in the "A" section still. I don't want Mr. Yanow to think I'm taking too much of his material, which I'm not. Just using the most basic of information he provides in a much more in depth manner. A very good research tool. The Afro-Cuban jazz musicians articles on here need much work, ie. expansion and new articles. As for the intention of this category, if they are a drummer and percussionist, place them in both categories. There is a category for each. Big difference, as you well know, between drummers and percussionists. Though, often drummers are percussionists also. This is, again, a category only devoted to musicians of Afro Cuban jazz, not musicians that play Cuban music in genreal. There is a fine difference, but a difference no less. I hope this helps you. Thanks for helping out, btw. (Mind meal 20:09, 28 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]
