Use of this category[edit]

Do we have any lockdowns that are not from the current pandemic? If not we can rename it and put it into Category:Containment efforts related to the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic. --mfb (talk) 14:46, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I believe there were many country lockdowns previously, probably during World Wars. But due to the less online media coverage at that time, it didn't get enough extensive coverage as this current COVID-19 lockdowns. However, this category is still needed because lockdown is still a general term that can cover a wide range of any disease, war or crime-related lockdown in the future. If the lockdown-related articles are getting more and more written, then the best is to create a special category (as you said "Category:Containment efforts related to the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic", but as the sub-category of this Category:Country lockdowns.
