Category:American people who self-identify as being of Tongva descent

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This category page lists notable citizens of the United States who claim to have Tongva ancestry but lack sufficient evidence of this heritage. In some cases, boarding schools, adoption, and urbanization can be a factor in this seperation. For people with documented Tongva ancestry, see Category:Tongva people. No Tongva group has federal recognition, but California officially recognized the Gabrielino/Tongva in 1994 as "the aboriginal tribe of the Los Angeles Basin.”[1]
