Anurag Sinha (pronounced [ənurɑːɡ sɪnhə]) is an Indian actor who mainly works in Hindi films. He has received Best Actor awards at the Alternative Film Festival, Toronto and New Jersey Indian & International Film Festival in 2023 for his work in the film Shadow Assassins (2022).[1]
Early life and background[edit]
Anurag Sinha was born in Patna, India. He did his schooling from The Scindia School, Gwalior. Later, he went to St. Stephen's College, Delhi for higher studies before joining Film and Television Institute of India.[2][3]
Career[edit]
After receiving his postgraduate diploma in acting from The Film and Television Institute of India, Sinha was launched in Mukta Arts’ crime thriller Black & White (2008), directed by Subhash Ghai, co-starring starring Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah.[3][4] His role of a suicide bomber earned him a nomination for Best Male Debut award at the 54th Filmfare Awards in 2009. [5][6][7]
His work in Shadow Assassins (2022), a film based on true events of secret killings in Assam,[8] won him Best Male Actor award at Alternative Film Festival, Toronto and New Jersey Indian & International Film Festival 2023.[9][10][11] Sinha portrayed an Assamese youth who turns into a rebel at the behest of impolitic movies of the system.[12][13]
Some of his notable works also include P.O.W. - Bandi Yuddh Ke (2017), Sanam Teri Kasam (2016), and Kaun Banegi Shikharwati (2022).[14]
