A Place Called Silence (Chinese: 默杀; pinyin: Mò shā) is a 2024 Chinese crime thriller film co-written and directed by Sam Quah, starring Eric Wang, Ning Chang, and Francis Ng. The film tells the story of a girls' middle school plagued by bullying, where a student's tragic death sparks a wave of disappearances.[3] A Place Called Silence was released on July 3, 2024.[4]
Based on the scene palm tree farm and car plate number, The film was recorded in Malaysia.
Plot
[edit]Junior high school girl Huijun fell to her death from a height after being bullied on campus for a long time. The bullying did not stop and spreads to her best friend Xiaotong. However, the bullies begin to die one by one under mysterious circumstances. As the serial murders unfold, several suspects emerge: Xiaotong's mother, who witnessed her daughter's mouth being sealed with glue yet stayed silent; the school janitor Lin Zaifu, who seems to know the truth but remains indifferent; and the mysterious Wu Wang, who watches from the shadows, smiling despite the looming danger. The police officer Dai Guodong investigates, but appears blinded by deception. As he delves deeper, dark secrets from the past emerge, pushing everyone into the spotlight.

[edit]As of October 28, 2024, A Place Called Silence has received a rating of more than 6.1 on Douban, with a box office of $1.6 billion yuan.[5] It is currently the sixth highest-grossing Chinese film of 2024.[6]
